SCDC has been working continuously at the grass root level for the upliftment and socio economic development of Tribal community and rural women in the state of Odisha since last 25 years. The followings are the most significant contributions made by SCDC towards applications of Science and Technology through various activities undertaken for the livelihood improvement of Tribal people and women.
In addition to those, SCDC has also been actively involved in other poverty alleviation programmes such as coir craft training, Agarbati making, Pisciculture, computer training to rural school dropout girls and women, Women health and nutrition, literacy programme, Capacity building workshop on Disaster Management and food adulteration, Environment awareness campaign.
SCDC has conducted several meetings / practical trainings to Rural Women and Tribal community during the past 25 years resulting into directly and indirectly impacted the lives of 2,50,000 people. The organization has implemented various programmes for empowerment of Rural Women through S&T interventions.
The organization has MoU with Fakir Mohan University, & SAARC Country Nepal and received two patents from Govt. of South Africa for Renewable Energy Based Cool Chamber for Cold Storage for the benefit of Rural farmers.
1. Training and Demonstration of Mushroom Cultivation among Tribal people and women in different district of Odisha.
2. Livelihood improvement through apiculture among the tribal women of Nilagiri, Kaptipada and Udala Block of Odisha.
3. Promotion of Biotechnologies for the Economic Empowerment of SC, ST and Rural Women in Eastern Region of India.
4. Popularization of women friendly and drudgery reducing farm implements and tools among Tribal people and women of Odisha.
5. Eradication of witch-haunting and superstition-related crimes among tribal women in Keonjhar and Mayurbjanj district of Odisha.
6. Popularization Improved Pulses Cultivation among Small and Marginal farmers of Odisha.
7. Preparation of Biocoal from Waste Green Coconut Shell and its Demonstration and Popularization as an Energy Rich Cooking Fuel among Rural Women in Puri District of Odisha.
8. Dissemination of Solar Powered force draft Improved Biomass Cook Stove in Household Cooking for Protecting Health of Tribal Women in different District of Odisha.
9. Training to Women Faculties on Geospatial Technologies at Ramadevi Women University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
10. Livelihood improvement of Tribal Community and Women through Bamboo Plantation and Skill oriented training on Bamboo fancy product at Kalahandi, Kandhamal & Malkangiri District of Odisha.
11. Organizing science camp / fair in different Districts of Odisha regarding science awareness and nurture the scientific talent, eradicating superstitions in tribal areas, Livelihood generation through gainful utilization of bio-resources in order to enhance their livelihood. The "hidden talent" in rural areas promoted through this programme.
Due to dedicated work for upliftment of Tribal community and women since last 25 years, the organization receive two National Awards from outstanding contribution to the society from Govt. of India. Implemented many Agriculture and Social welfare project for upliftment of Tribal women, Rural people, Students scientific Awareness in underdeveloped area & Science Teachers training for Low Cost Teaching method in secondary school, Geospatial Training for faculty of University and College teachers improvement programme through my organization in 30 District of Odisha.
